Sarah Cress finds beauty in the unexpected. Deteriorating homes, rotting barns, rusting metal, factories left to their own defenses. These subjects and more are the heart of Cress' personal portfolio. Cress' odd obsession for such debilitating sites stems from her curiosity in how these places came to be and what they resembled in their original glory. While others may find aesthetic interest in other subject matter, Cress finds beauty in objects and places that exude history and inanimate trauma.

Cress shoots with a variety of media, including her Nikon D300, a Hasselblad film camera, and even her basic 35mm SLR. Cress shoots in accordance to the mood of her subject matter. Cress has traveled to Boston, New Orleans, St. Louis, and Chicago to shoot her current work.
